Our Mission Statement
The stated mission of the Chinook Equine
Association is to promote equine activities through education,
scholarships and equine-related events. Scholarship funds are provided through
the Organization's fundraising activities, a portion of membership dues and
through sponsorships from other individuals, businesses and organizations.
We believe this helps support the various local communities in the area which are
all struggling to provide people with 'something to do', especially the kids.
To that end, the CEA helps advertise equine events in the area by giving any
qualifying equine event (AKA a Horse Show) our 'stamp of approval', otherwise
known as CEA Recognition. To gain recognition, a Horse Show must follow
strict safety guidelines and organize their class list in such a manner as to be
fair to all competitors.
Our current focus is in North Central/Eastern Oregon
and South Central/Eastern Washington. Any Horse Show or Activity in the area may
seek CEA Recognition. The status of gaining CEA Recognition entitles their
Horse Show or Activity to an advertisement in our newsletters and fliers which
are circulated to hundreds of families, links and/or contact information
displayed on our web site, a spot on our public calendar for their show
information as well as free use of our Online Show Registration System for
pre-entries to their event. This type of advertisement helps to draw people
to the events which in turn helps to support their local communities. People from
all over Oregon and Washington will attend a CEA Recognized show because they
know it will be safe and well organized event which generates a fair competition.
They also attend a recognized show so they can attempt to qualify themselves for
the CEA's Championship Show, a regionally recognized annual event.
To help support our organization, we charge show
recognition fees and membership dues. An annual membership also entitles
people to compete in the CEA's End-Of-Year Awards system. All other support
for the CEA comes through sponsorships, donations and a lot of volunteered time.
Occasionally, the CEA will even host clinics and horse shows of their own, as a
fundraiser, if we can find enough volunteers to run it.
The CEA has been organized as a 501(C)3 Non-Profit
Organization, fully recognized by the IRS and the State of Oregon.
